«Why Does the Child Prefer to Portray Him(Her)self Alone?»

«Why does the child prefer to portray him(her)self alone?» - is the very important question which I would like to concern in my blog. The given tendency is well traced in different researched groups, in different years and this circumstance makes adults think why the small child «sees him(her)self» in the city, in the game, at home, etc. alone.
In the modern times in the scientific literature, we can meet the term «individualization" (“individuation’)  of  childhood: one of the definitions of the individualization is the increasing number of actions and events in which he or she participates individually (alone). "Individualization"(in the some extent) is the part of the modern society of many countries.
It is impossible to deny, that the mass media, cinema and TV play a great role in this sphere while  speaking: «You should be yourself, do not compare yourself with anybody…» In some cartoon films and children's films the "single fighters" become the heroes who win the bad heroes and solve all problems.

Not only the mass-media influence such processes. So, for example, in the Russian culture in which for centuries the children and adults spent time together and played traditional games, in which in the yards the grandmothers and the grandfathers told about the history of the country and about their lives to small children, - the given tendency of close intergenerational relationships has almost disappeared.
In the research the purpose of which was to reveal the problems of the socialization of children in a big city, 25 % of the respondents have drawn themselves alone. When the children answered questions, according to the pictures with the images of the various social situations in the big city, a lot of respondents have specified that they are afraid of people.
In the other research devoted to the play activity, the children often drew collective games with one participant. In particular, it touched the games with a competitive character when it is necessary to find out who is better in any actions (hopscotch, games with the ball, etc.). The attention is also attracted by the presence of imaginative friends in the children's pictures - it is considered, that the children who incline to invent friends can test the deficiency of dialogue with peers and other children.
Certainly, all listed above can be "simple" displays of children’s egocentrism, however, the mentioned facts provoke us to think. In fact, the child who is 4 to 7 years old has the aspiration to learn the world, to learn people. It is normal. But we can see some kind of the desire to be alone. Perhaps, the child carries out «the order of the society», in which it is necessary to study to overcome the difficulties individually? However, there is a question: «How?» If we address to the majority of the heroes of modern cartoon films and films, we will see that they have a magic stick, a magic watch, a mask, etc. They solve problems by the means of these subjects, they address to the parents, friends and other representatives of social environment rarely. In the life, there is not a magic stick, and in the natural desire to cope with stress, the child can have a desire "to leave" in a computer, for example. There he or she is a hero; there it is easier to overcome obstacles and to win foes.

Nobody says that the computer games are considerably badly, but we, adults, must help the child to find the balance between technologies and a real social life.
The questions of the individualization really need to be considered. In fact, the generation of today's children grows in the century of technologies and it is so important to know, what children's qualities are brought up by the adults, who sometimes do not reflect on what it will result.

Most of the young children (toddlers to early elementary school grades) do portray themselves alone because it is all about them. The world revolves around THEM. They act by the motto "I see it -- it's mine. I want it -- it's mine. If it's mine -- it is MINE forever". Some children though depict themselves surrounded by family members, even a dog. It is due to their dependency on mommy and daddy mainly and they like to recognize that.
